SAP Africa has announced the appointment of Dr. Adriana Marais as their Head of Innovation in Africa. Dr. Marais is also one of the candidates in the Mars-One project and has said that she aspires to be one of the astronauts involved in the development of a human settlement on Mars.

โ€œWe live in the Digital Revolution where innovation is key to survival in todayโ€™s economy. What appealed to me about the role is that I can put my knowledge and experience into action and help transform Africa while changing the lives of people across the continent.โ€ said Dr. Adriana Marais.

As the Head of Innovation at SAP Africa, Dr. Marais will lead SAP's IoT Lab, the Co-Innovation Lab initiatives, as well as other innovation streams for SAP while taking the companyโ€™s Digital Platform solutions to market. As part of her role she will also drive strategic co-innovation projects and take responsibility for the SAP Start-up Focus programme โ€“ which provides SMEโ€™s with digital solutions to help accelerate growth.

Prior to being appointed in her new role at SAP Africa to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr. Marais was a Postdoctoral Quantum Researcher at the University of Kwazulu-Natal and lectured in physics at the University of Cape Town.
