Vodacom Egypt, Egypt's largest mobile operator by customer base and revenue share, has announced the appointment of Hany Mahmoud, Egypt's former Minister of Communications and Information Technology, as the new chairman of the board.
Mahmoud succeeds Ian Gray, who had been chairman for 17 years.

Mahmoud is not new to Vodafone, as he has previously served in various leadership roles at the telecommunications company spanning various countries before he became Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology in 2012. He has also worked as the North African country's Minister of Administrative Development in 2013.
Mahmoud is reported to have over thirty years of experience in fields such as such as communications, industry, finance, marketing, human resources, and leadership.
