Nigeria's House of Representatives has said that it has instructed its Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values to investigate Multichoice Nigeria's ‘exorbitant charges’ for its DStv and GOtv packages.
The House of Representatives also wants to investigate why Multichoice is not offering a pay-as-you-go option in Nigeria.
Furthermore, Multichoice is being questioned for their almost annual practice of increasing package subscription pricing without any clear formula on how this is determined according to the House of Representatives.
According to reports, this resolution to investigate Multichoice was taken after a motion brought forward by Abbas Tajudeen (Kaduna-APC).
Mr. Tajudeen has said that the increase in Multichoice prices of their various bouquet offerings and its refusal to offer a ‘Pay as you Go’ package option is causing serious financial strain on its Nigerian subscribers.
