Uber Central dashboard.
"Many businesses want to make it easier for their customers to go about their day — whether they’re picking up a last minute gift, dropping the car off for an oil change, or heading to an appointment. That’s why we’re excited to launch UberCENTRAL, a new way for businesses to connect with their customers." said Uber in a statement.
Uber adds that through the Uber Central dashboard, businesses of all sizes will be able to request, manage, and pay for multiple Uber rides on behalf of their customers.
"UberCENTRAL is designed with all kinds of companies in mind — from senior centres and retailers to car dealerships, hotels, and more. Here’s how businesses are already using UberCENTRAL to provide a better customer experience", the company said in a statement.
Uber Central was free for businesses while in beta but Uber will now be charging businesses an activation fee for the feature.
Also interesting is that passengers don't need to have the Uber app as once a ride is requested there is an option to send an SMS with the driver's name, license plate and vehicle make and model for those passengers without the app.
