Hotels.ng, one of Nigeria’s popular online hotel booking platforms, has announced a partnership with Nigeria's Akwa Ibom State Government for a remote internship programme. The remote internship programme will be open for Akwa Ibom residents and will kick-off on 1 September 2017.
This is not the first time that Hotels.ng runs a remote internship programme to help interns develop their programming skills and gain work experience. The company organises bi-annual remote internship programmes and has previously run similar programmes internally with the next such programme open to all people set for December 2017.
“[This is] a great opportunity for participants to plug into the rising global trend of the remote working culture while learning valuable skills” explained Mark Essien, CEO at Hotels.ng.
The aim of the programme with Akwa Ibom State government is to promote tech talent in the state.
According to Dr. Nse Udo Essien, the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology and State’s representative in the agreement, about 150 - 500 young men and women will be trained in this internship program that is designed to last for 3 months. He promised that the State’s Ibom e-library would be open to all the interns during the internship period.
The internship program is aimed at software developers and UI/UX designers at beginner level who have an interest in improving their skills. The selected interns will be given an opportunity to collaborate, innovate, solve real problems and receive stipends as they progress in the program.
For those interested, the only requirement is you must have a laptop. You can register on the remote internship programme website.
