HMD Global has announced the availability of their flagship smartphone in South Africa - the Nokia 8. HMD Global is the Finnish company that is bringing the Nokia brand of mobile phones back.
The Nokia 8 will be initially available in South Africa through Vodacom at a recommended retail price of $740 (R9,499).
“We know that fans are creating and sharing live content more than ever before, with millions of photos and videos shared every minute on social media. People are inspired by the content they consume and are looking for new ways to create their own. It’s these people who have inspired us to craft a flagship smartphone which perfectly balances premium design, an outstanding experience and powerful performance,” said Justin Maier, Vice President at HMD Global: Sub Sahara Africa.
The Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch 2,560 x 1,440 LCD display, an aluminium body and will be available in four different colours: Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue, and Steel. As with all the new Nokia smartphones, it will be running Pure Android with no "bloatware" pre-installed.
It also runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, features 64GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, and 4GB of RAM.
