Volvo has just launched what can be termed as Car-as-a-Service. "Care by Volvo" is a new online monthly car subscription for the newly announced Volvo XC40 SUV.
The subscription service will see customers paying a flat monthly fee and in turn Volvo gives them the right to use a brand new XC40.
"After ordering online, Care by Volvo customers will be able to drive away in a new Volvo without having to worry about the traditional extras such as down payments, insurances, taxes, service fees and geographical or customer age related differences. Furthermore, Care by Volvo will, depending on regional availability, offer a range of digital concierge services, such as fuelling, cleaning, service pick-up and e-commerce delivery to the car," the company said in a statement.
Although "Care by Volvo" is initially only available on the new Volvo XC40 SUV, the car manufacturer has said that the subscription service will be rolled out to the rest of their car models soon.
"With Care by Volvo, we introduce a new car access for the modern age. In a time where consumers are used to transparent flat-fees for all sort of services, the traditional process of buying and owning a car can be perceived rather complicated. Care by Volvo changes all of that,” said Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO at Volvo Car Group.
The service will initially be available in Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, Poland and the United States of America. At the time of publishing we couldn't establish whst the subscription fee will be or whether it will be available in any country in Afrika or not. All Volvo has said thus far is that, "other markets will follow at a later stage."
What is also interesting is that, according to Volvo, in every country that the subscription service is available, customers, irrespective of age, will pay the same monthly fee.
"Our aim with Care by Volvo is to provide our customers with a transparent, premium car user experience. With a fixed monthly payment, Volvo Cars provides a truly customer-focused alternative to the traditional purchase or leasing. Time is a luxury for our customers, and with this service we are able to free up time in their daily lives. This is simply making life easier for our customers,” said Thomas Andersson, Vice President at Care by Volvo at Volvo Cars.
Earlier in September 2017 Volvo Cars acquired Luxe for an undisclosed amount. It looks highly likely that this was in preparation to offer digital car concierge services for their Care By Volvo service.
